Custom Açaí Dessert Cups in Sydney | StlPak Case

Some dessert brands sell food. Açaí Junky sells a moment — the kind you photograph before you eat.

Açaí Junky is a growing dessert brand based in Sydney, Australia, specialising in açaí bowls, soft-serve ice cream, frozen yoghurt, and fresh fruit desserts. Their signature builds are the kind that stop you mid-scroll: generous swirls of soft serve rising well above the cup rim, topped with strawberries, banana, blueberries, granola, and pistachio sauce, stacked with just enough confidence to make you wonder how it holds together.

That visual — the dramatically tall swirl, the layered toppings, the clear cup showing everything underneath — is not accidental. It’s the product. And it was exactly what a standard cup was starting to get in the way of.

Three Stores, One Brand Identity

Açaí Junky currently operates across three Sydney locations:

  • Bankstown — 5/226 Chapel Road, Bankstown NSW 2200
  • Kingsgrove — 333 Stoney Creek Road, Kingsgrove NSW 2208
  • Haberfield — 171 Ramsay Street, Haberfield NSW 2045

Beyond the counter, the brand runs active delivery operations through Uber Eats — including the Bankstown store and the Kingsgrove location. Their Facebook page and Instagram account document a constant stream of colourful builds across different sizes and flavour combinations.

The brand has also been recognised beyond its own channels — Canterbury-Bankstown’s official tourism platform “Where Interesting Happens” lists Açaí Junky as a local dessert destination, placing it in the Sweets & Desserts category alongside a description of their açaí, fruit, granola, and signature sauce products.

For a brand operating at this scale — multiple physical stores, active delivery platforms, and a social media presence built around visually distinctive products — packaging isn’t just a container. It’s part of the presentation.

The Problem: Two Packaging Challenges at Once

When Açaí Junky approached StlPak, they came with a clear brief and a practical complication.

They wanted to move into StlPak’s 117-series transparent deli cups, available in small and large sizes to cover their different portion tiers and price points. They also wanted branded logo printing across the range — consistent across all cup sizes, so that every in-store serve, every delivery order, and every Instagram photo carried the same visual identity.

That’s where the first challenge appeared.

StlPak’s standard minimum order quantity for logo printing is 50,000 units per size. For a brand sourcing multiple cup sizes simultaneously, that threshold meant either concentrating the order into one size (limiting flexibility) or hitting the MOQ across each size separately (locking up capital in stock levels that didn’t match actual sales pace). Neither worked well for a multi-store operation managing several SKUs at once.

The second challenge was more structural. The standard 117 cup works well for most dessert applications — but Açaí Junky’s trademark ultra-tall soft-serve builds pushed beyond what a standard rim could comfortably support. The opening was just narrow enough to limit how the ice cream could be swirled, how toppings could be arranged, and how much visual impact the finished product could achieve. Asking the brand to adjust its product to fit the cup felt like the wrong answer.

What StlPak Did

Lowering the MOQ for Multi-Size Logo Printing

On the minimum order question, StlPak took into account the full picture: Açaí Junky’s existing store network, their delivery channel presence, and the realistic pattern of ongoing reorders across multiple locations. With consistent demand spread across three stores and active platform sales, the conditions for a long-term supply relationship were already there.

StlPak coordinated internally to reduce the logo printing MOQ to 20,000 units per size. That adjustment allowed Açaí Junky to run branded cups across their full size range from the first order — small and large, all carrying the same logo — without being forced to over-stock any single format or delay the rollout until numbers aligned with the standard threshold.

Developing a Wide-Mouth Cup on the 117 Series Base

For the ultra-tall ice cream challenge, the answer wasn’t to recommend a different product from the catalogue. It was to build one that didn’t exist yet.

StlPak developed a new wide-mouth cup using the 117 series as the structural foundation, retooling the mold to expand the rim diameter. The change sounds simple but addresses several real operational requirements:

  • A wider opening gives the soft-serve more room to build upward without the rim creating resistance or limiting the swirl shape.
  • It gives staff more working space to arrange toppings — fruit, sauce, granola — around the edge without everything crowding toward the center.
  • The clear body of the cup continues to do what it does best: show every layer, from the açaí base through the ice cream to whatever is sitting on top, exactly as it looks before the customer takes a photo.

That combination — structural support for a tall product, room to work with, and full visual transparency — is what makes the custom cup functional rather than just aesthetic.

The Outcome

Since completing development, small cups, large cups, and the custom wide-mouth cups have shipped across multiple containers to Açaí Junky’s Sydney operations. The order volumes per shipment aren’t the largest StlPak handles, but the reorder pattern has been consistent — a rhythm that reflects how a multi-store dessert brand actually operates, with regular replenishment rather than single large purchases.

The project solved four things at once: portion flexibility across sizes, unified brand identity through logo printing, manageable stock levels through a lower MOQ, and a purpose-built cup that could actually hold the product the brand is known for.

If Your Dessert Has the Same Kind of Requirements

If you’re running an açaí bar, soft-serve concept, frozen yoghurt brand, or fruit dessert shop — and your signature product tends to build above the rim, carry a specific visual identity, or require consistent packaging across multiple store locations — the process looks roughly the same.

Share your target capacity, the maximum height of your product above the rim, your preferred cup opening size, whether you need logo printing, and your expected order volume. StlPak can identify whether an existing model works, or whether a custom tooling solution makes sense for your specific product and supply pattern.
